Professor Deirdre Ahern is Professor in Law at the School of Law Trinity College Dublin where she is Director of the Technologies, Law and Society Research Group. She has also engaged in AI research dissemination collaborations with the ADAPT Centre in Trinity College Dublin. An expert on regulatory approaches to new and emerging technologies and on the use of regulatory sandboxes, Deirdre is exploring the role of regulatory sandboxes under the EU AI Act. As a member of Ireland’s AI Advisory Council, she is advising the Irish government on AI strategy. She is a Fellow of the Milan Information Society Law Centre and a visiting professor at the European University Institute.
