Elora Fernandes is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the KU Leuven Centre for IT and IP Law (CiTiP – Belgium). She has previously worked in NGOs focused on digital rights in different countries, and served as a Trainee and Legal Officer (Interim) at the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). With a keen interest in children's rights online, she defended her Joint PhD in Law at both the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ, Brazil) and KU Leuven on children's data protection in edtech. She obtained her Master's Degree in Law and Innovation from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF, Brazil) and completed her Bachelor's Degree in Law at the same institution, including an academic mobility period at the University of Salamanca (Spain).
