Sophia Ignatidou is a Group Manager for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at the Technology department of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) leading a team of AI policy experts. The ICO is the UK's independent Data Protection Authority with Technology looking into how new and emerging technologies influence individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms. Sophia is the lead author of the recent fairness update to ICO's landmark Guidance on AI and Data Protection and strategic thought leader on AI across the organisation. She works closely with other UK regulators as the ICO sponsor of the Algorithmic Processing project at the Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF) after representing the ICO at a variety of fora such as the Global Privacy Assembly's AI Working Group and international standardisation organisations.
