Mollica

DG Justice (EU)

Admitted to the Bologna and Brussels Bars, Maria R. Mollica worked for nine years as lawyer in private practice (Stibbe law firm), in Brussels and Amsterdam, specialising in EU competition law. She joined the European Commission in July 2008. She worked first as case handler in DG Competition, then as policy officer in the Commission Secretariat General. Since 2015, she has been working in DG Justice, first in the area of personal data protection - international relations, then in the area of fundamental rights and currently in the area of gender equality, as Team Leader “Stop violence against women”. She has been closely involved in the process of drafting and negotiating the new EU Directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence. She graduated in Law at the University of Bologna. She holds an LL.M. degree in European Law (University of Lausanne), and a master degree in EU Business Law (Institut d’Etudes Européennes, Brussels).
