My PhD-research is centered around the governance and regulation of the use of AI in the law enforcement context. The research is part of a larger project called AI4Intelligence, an interdisciplinary research project consisting of legal scholars, computer scientists and administrative scientists aiming to ensure that the use of AI by law enforcement agencies is fair, reliable and contestable in court. Within the project, my focus is specifically on the legal framework regulating the use of AI at both the pre-trial and trial stages of the criminal process.
