Berend is a partner at Bird & Bird's international Data Protection and Data Regulation practices. He gets a genuine satisfaction from combining his knowledge of IT and new technologies with his legal and regulatory expertise to help his clients navigate the various EU data laws - whether it is GDPR, ePrivacy or one of the many more recent EU laws such as the Data Act, AI Act or NIS2. Berend is a co-editor of the Journal for Internet Law and a published author on topics such as the liability of online intermediaries and the law and computer games. He often speaks and writes on topics including data protection, EU data laws, deceptive design and open banking.
